Biography and Mission
I began my study of relationships and coaching in 1995 with Global Relationship Centers (GRC). Bill Reidler was my teacher and the founder of GRC. The theory I learned was based on the teachings of Dr. Alfred Adler and included the strong influence of Rudolf Dreikurs, M.D., who devoted his life to showing others the usefulness of Adlerian psychology. In 1998 I received a teaching certificate from GRC after having completed more than 2000 hours of instruction and practice designed to establish expertise in a variety of areas related to coaching. These areas included such diverse topics as self acceptance; living a passionate, fulfilled life; creating inner peace; the ability to influence others; assertiveness training; conflict resolution; family dynamics; the power of forgiveness; and skills to build intimate, loving relationships.
I have been a full-time Life Coach since 2000. Most of my clients have come to me for help with relationships, career, or personal hurdles. I’m a member in good standing of the International Coach Federation.
What I am not: I am not a therapist, psychologist or psychiatrist. My training has been as a coach and counselor. The primary difference in my training and approach from these other professions is that my focus is on the present and the future rather than the past. My intention is to help you create the life you want by understanding your life now as opposed to delving into your past.
I am an entrepreneur; I have extensive experience with small businesses. I’ve owned and operated more than a half dozen businesses. These enterprises have helped me tremendously in areas of business as diverse as relationships, marketing, goal-setting, influencing others, website creation, and SEO (search engine optimization). Each of these tools has continues to be useful to me as a coach and counselor.
My focus as a life coach is to help individuals build meaningful and fulfilling relationships in families, marriages, careers and with God. Society offers much encouragement to find a “soul mate,” to make money and to achieve our goals. A wealth of confusing, misinterpreted, and sometimes inaccurate information is available about how to do that. One of my objectives is to help others find “the truth within,” which will enable them to live the fulfilled lives they seek.
I became a minister in December 2001. I was ordained in the Universal Life Church. My intent in counseling is not to endorse any particular faith, but to encourage individuals and couples to create fulfilling lives and relationships.
In the past century we’ve begun a movement in the world to correct the political, educational and economic imbalance between men and women. We’re in the midst of a difficult process of redefining the roles of men and women, not only in the world but also in the family. This shift has led to uncertainty for individuals and couples, and has caused great upheaval for individuals, families, and society. The rules of life we followed for centuries are being questioned. What works, what’s effective and beneficial to everyone? This is the question I help people answer for themselves. Meaningful and effective solutions are possible, and that is what I offer as a counselor and life coach.
